The Single Action Plan for Chester City Centre
CCM believes it is essential that there is a coherent strategy for developing, managing and marketing the City and has launched a draft ‘Single Action Plan’ for the city centre that will:
- Develop a shared vision for the future of the city centre
- Make it easier for people to work together
- Establish a prioritised action programme
- Agree processes for structural improvements including access and transportation
- Ensure effective management of public and private areas
- Identify and steer investment opportunities
- Strengthen and co-ordinate marketing across all sectors
The City Council and other agencies have agreed to support the Plan and take part in its delivery.
This innovative approach proposes three main themes:
- Development, Transport and the Environment
- Management and Community Safety – ‘Crime and Grime’
- Marketing and Communication
Funding and investment are seen as crosscutting issues.
The plan outlines targets to be achieved, milestones and proposes delivery mechanisms. It is a living document and is impacted on by experience. Task groups made up of partners professionally involved across the three themes are agreeing service levels with suppliers (i.e. street cleansing, policing or Marketing support), monitoring progress and proposing new initiatives and methods of funding them. They are bringing independent expertise to these processes and by taking a strategic view of issues in their arena, ensuring the relevance of the Plan to all sectors in the City.

Over 3 years we have already achieved over £200K of support for Tactical Marketing, over £300K of support for Strategic Marketing: The launch of Chester Against Crime with over 160 members, and the Safer Business Award.
